A transferred file can be a ticking time bomb. Often both the transferring and receiving lawyers are lulled into a false sense of security, each assuming the other has the file in good shape and in hand. The new lawyer does not realize what needs to be done and the transferring lawyer stops working on the file even though that lawyer may still be on the record. These claims can get nasty, resulting in finger pointing among colleagues and stress.
Happily, these claims can easily be avoided.
Claims Counsel Richard Panton will describe what went wrong in a file transfer from one of our claims, and provide you with our top 5 tips to avoid a problem.
